How to get there
Tokyo to Iiyama shinkansen, then Nozawa Onsen Liner shuttle or local bus. A 7-day national JR Pass can make sense if you add Kyoto or other stops.

Public hot spring baths scattered through the village. Locals-run, natural spring water, no entrance fee. Bring a towel and donation coins.

The Dōsojin fire festival

Thirteen free village onsen are locals-run. Wash before you soak, no phones, donation coins welcome.
These are community hot spring baths, not tourist attractions. Tattoos visible in some baths — check individual onsen notes on the onsen page. Respect quiet hours and local custom.
